Dear colleagues,

The State Historical and Cultural Museum and Heritage Site "The Moscow Kremlin" invites you to take part in the 19th annual scientific and practical conference "Museum Libraries in Modern Society".

Theme 2022: "Preservation and Maintenance of Stock in Museum Libraries"

We invite colleagues from museum archives and libraries to tell about modern practices of preservation of library stock and about their experience of protecting books during relocation.

Within the framework of the stated topic, we plan to discuss the following issues:

- preservation of book stock in a historical context;

- preservation of book stock in a museum;

- modern technologies of library stock preventive preservation;

- current problems of book restoration;

-the experience of using private restoration and binding workshops;

- the market of restoration services in the context of a museum library;

- moving books and their protection;

- historical experience and modern practice of moving library stock;

- relocation of a library: recommendations of experts.

The conference will host a round table dedicated to the preservation of library stock during its transfer with the participation of keepers, restorers and specialists of logistics companies.

If you are interested in the above-mentioned range of discussion, please join us at the annual scientific and practical conference "Museum Libraries in Modern Society." The conference will be held on 29-31 March 2022 at the Moscow Kremlin Museums. To participate, you need to register on our official website https://www.kreml.ru/research/conferences-and-seminars/.

The Programme Committee accepts applications for reports presented in the conference hall or online. We are planning the preliminary publication of the conference theses. The deadline for the registration of reports is 30 December 2021. Abstracts of the reports should be sent in RTF or Docx format (edited text with a maximum of 4000 characters, footnotes within the text) to the address: library@kremlin.museum.ru. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select reports. All expenses of non-resident participants are paid by the sending party. Applications for participation as attendees without presentations are accepted until 20 March 2022.
