KARO.Art is a special project of the cinema chain ‘KARO’ with a unique repertoire policy: the spectators will have an opportunity to watch independent, experimental, classic and cult cinema films.

Within the promotion framework, the cinema ‘Oktyabr’ on the Novy Arbat street will show a number of film screenings that cover several periods of Russian history: the Moscow Kremlin Museums staff members will present and discuss the movies with the audience. Among them are curators of the exhibition Sergei Brun and Maria Vilkova and lecturer, art historian Elizaveta Titova. They will introduce to the attendees the political and cultural peculiarities of different historical periods, observe real and fabulous events, tell how the films are connected with the themes touched upon in the exhibition.

On 1 March the first film screening of the series was held, Sergei Brun led the discussion. The audience watched the film by Sergey Eisenstein ‘Alexander Nevsky’. Also in the programme:

  • 6 April – ‘Horde’ by Andrey Proshkin (2011);
  • 31 May – ‘Andrey Rublev’ by Andrey Tarkovsky (1966);
  • 6 and 13 June – ‘Ivan the Terrible’ by Sergei Eisenstein (1944-1945);
  • 4 July – ‘Tsar’ by Pavel Lungin (2009).

According to the promotion conditions, audience of KARO.Art will be able to access the exhibition 'The Heavenly Host' with a discount ticket. To buy such a ticket, one should show the cashier a printed or electronic ticket from any KARO.Art movie with a required promo code. Purchase of tickets on special conditions is possible only in the ticket office of the museum.
