The State Historical and Cultural Museum and Heritage Site "The Moscow Kremlin" invites you to take part in the 18th annual scientific and practical conference "Museum Libraries in Modern Society".

Theme 2021: "Unique Private Funds in Museum's Archival and Library Collections"

We invite colleagues from museum archives and libraries to tell about private collections of memorial significance stored in their archives and libraries and to discuss various aspects of work with them.

Within the framework of the stated topic, we plan to discuss the following issues:

  • special features of private collections;
  • problems of attribution and description of documents;
  • specifics requirement in archiving private collections;
  • owner’s marks in books and their description in library information systems;
  • storage of unique private book collections as collections;
  • modern possibilities of presentation of a private book and archival collections in museums.

The conference will focus on reports on archival and book collections related to the history of famous jewellery companies, as well as on archives of Russians abroad.

If you are interested in the above-mentioned range of discussion, please join us at the annual scientific and practical conference "Museum Libraries in Modern Society." The conference will be held on 20-22 April 2021 at the Moscow Kremlin Museums. To participate, you need to register on our official website: https://www.kreml.ru/en-Us/research/conferences-and-seminars/.

The Programme Committee accepts applications for reports presented in the conference hall or online. We are planning the preliminary publication of the conference theses. The deadline for the registration of reports is 30 December 2020. Abstracts of the reports should be sent in RTF or Docx format (edited text with a maximum of 4000 characters, footnotes within the text) to the email address: library@kremlin.museum.ru. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select reports. All expenses of non-resident participants are paid by the sending party. Applications for participation as attendees without presentations are accepted until 1 April 2021.
