On 19-21 December 2024, the Moscow Kremlin Museums participated in the winter festival Intermuseum. Expo’, which incorporates four exhibitions, each uncovering various aspects of the festival's main theme—‘Museum is People’. The festival participants talked about new technologies, museums backstage, the life of regional museums, and projects realized abroad.

On 19 December, General Director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina made a report ‘Russia and China: Art, Traditions and Cultural Dialogue’ within the session ‘Museum on Tour. How are the International Exhibitions Organized?’. She spoke about the role of cultural exchange in the relations between different countries and, taking the example of the intercourse with Chinese partners, explained how the international exhibition is being created and what aspects need special attention.

“Russia and China are neighbours on the map and have one of the most stretched borders in the world. We have much in common – national diversity, multiculturality, interest in one’s culture, and pursuit to study national heritage. In 2006, we carried out the first exhibition ‘Golden Russia. Treasures of the Moscow Kremlin’, and the next year the Kremlin hosted the exhibition ‘Forbidden City. Treasures of Chinese Emperors’. Altogether there were held three exhibitions from China and now the fourth is being prepared”, noted Elena Gagarina.

Special attention was paid to the current exhibition of the Moscow Kremlin Museums in the National Museum of China, ‘Russian Feast — Traditional Foods, Drinks and the Art of Table Setting,’ and the exchange exhibition ‘Fine Dining: Stories of Food in Ancient China’.

Also participating in the festival were: the Head of Scientific and Conservatory Department ‘Museums-Cathedrals’ Olga Tsitsinova, who participated in the review of the exhibition ‘Russian Phoenix. Suzdal Land’ as a curator; Leading Research Scientist of the Department of Weapons and Horse Harnesses of the Armoury Chamber Vasily Novoselov, who was a speaker at the master class ‘Error Сorrection. The History of Four Failures’; Chief  Engineer of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Sergey Shishkin, who spoke at the round table ‘Weather in a Museum. Managing Microclimate in Museum Venues’.
