On 17 May 2025, the Moscow Kremlin Museums will join the All-Russian Campaign “The Night of the Museums”. A special evening program will be held in the museum’s Lecture Hall on Manezhnaya Street, 7 and in the Alexander Garden.

Lecture
“Alexander Nevsky – Protector of the Russian Land”

At 16:00, at the lecture “Alexander Nevsky – Protector of the Russian Land”, the guests will hear about the feats of one of the most famous heroes of the Russian history – Prince Alexander Nevsky, who was not only a great combat leader, but also an ingenious diplomat that managed to establish relations with khans of the Horde.
The lecture will feature the key points of his biography, starting from the early years, when he became the Prince of Novgorod, till the splendid victories in the battles, in particular the legendary Battle on the Ice. The participants will learn how he used strategic skills to protect the Russian lands from foreign threats such as the Teutonic Order, how the art of diplomacy and military prowess combined in his work ,helping to preserve the territorial integrity and independence of Russian lands during the period of trial in history.

The lecture will be read by Ms. Marina Rakitina, candidate of historical sciences, author of books and scientific articles, creator of more than 13 lecture programs for children and adults.

Excursion
“The Alexander Garden – Memorial of Two Patriotic Wars”

The Alexander Garden
The excursion “The Alexander Garden – Memorial of Two Patriotic Wars” will begin at 16:30. The guests will learn about the history of the monuments, and their significance in preserving the memory of heroic feats of our ancestors, they will visit principal historical sites connected with the events of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War.
The excursion will provide a unique opportunity to reconsider the perception of famous historical sites, evaluate the opulence and diversity of the cultural heritage of our country. It will be interesting both for students and pupils, keen in history,adults who aim to develop a deeper understanding of events related to Russia’s defence.

Mr. Dmitry Valyavin, author of scientific articles, books for family reading, a guidebook around the Moscow Kremlin and materials for the educational site “Museum for School”, will lead the excursion.

“Saint Warriors in the Frescoes of Kremlin Cathedrals”

The last event of the Night of the Museums – the lecture “Saint Warriors in the Frescoes of Kremlin Cathedrals” - will begin at 17:30. The audience will discover the role of saint warriors who died at the dawn of Christianity through the frescoes of the Assumption, Archangel and Annunciation cathedrals. It was them whom our ancestors addressed with prayers during the invasions and epidemics, asking for protection from the enemy, a rich harvest and fortune in trade. The lecture will allow reviewing common symbols. It will be interesting for everyone keen on history, art and culture.

Ms. Larisa Solovyeva, methodologist, guide, author of lecture series, scientific articles and methodological reсommendations, author of the book “What and How Italian Architects Built in the Moscow Kremlin in the 15-16th Centuries”, specialist in Italian applied art of the 14-18th cc and art of Italian architects in Russia on the edge of the 15-16th and 18-19th cc.
