During the International Festival “InterMuseum 2018” devoted to the theme “Museums and Society”, the Russian National Committee of the International Council of Museums will hold series of events to discuss topical problems of the museum development.

For a long time, the Kremlin Museums have been working on research, museumification and popularization of the lost monuments of the Moscow Kremlin — the Chudov Monastery and the Ascension Convent, Russian religious centres of great significance, destroyed in 1929.

These years of scientific work resulted in writing a series of scholarly catalogues, holding scientific conferences and making new expositions. In 2014, an exposition devoted to the Ascension Convent has been created. Fragments of bases of the demolished Church of Metropolitan Alexis, the refectory of the Chudov Monastery and the Small Nicholas’ Palace found during archaeological excavations in 2016 are now demonstrated in archaeological pits at the New Kremlin Square. A number of excursions, as well as a series of lectures dedicated to prominent women, whose life was related to the Ascension Convent, have been developed in order to popularize histories of conventional complexes. Two thematic tours – “Kremlin Square: Historical Memoirs” and “Ancient Kremlin and Sacred Monasteries” have been worked out as well. Besides, educational programs for grownups and children and interactive games have been developed on this theme.
