Book “Earth Orbit of Yuri Gagarin” by Andrei Simonov

The presentation of the book “Earth Orbit of Yuri Gagarin” by Andrei Simonov was held in the Memorial Space Museum on 26 March 2025. The book was published by the Fund “Russkie Vityazi” (Russian warriors) under support of the Association of  Cosmonautics Museums. Elena Gagarina wrote the introductory article to the publication.

The author concluded a monumental research of Yuri Gagarin’s trips around the Soviet Union and abroad showing their influence on international politics and native history.

General Director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina, Director of the Memorial Space Museum Natalya Artyukhina, Head of the Museum of the Flight Research Institute named after M.M. Gromov, flight historian and author of the book Andrei Simonov, and Director of the publishing house  “Russkie Vityazi”, Colonel Yuri Zheltonogin took part in the presentation of the book.

“People remember Gagarin all over the world, different events and exhibitions are held, the books are published in many languages. I am often asked what the reason for his popularity was, why, wherever he came, he was always welcomed with adoration, how Gagarin managed to gain the hearts of millions around the whole world? I think that, of course, his courage was admired, the courage that was absolutely unprecedented for the time of peace. He was a very open and good-natured person, possessing doubtless aptitude for diplomacy. The trips with speeches around the country and abroad were always connected with the solution of some important political and economic questions,” noted Elena Gagarina.

Such honorary guests as Hero of the Russian Federation, honoured test-pilot of the Russian Federation Pavel Vlasov, honoured crash tester of space tecnhics Leonid Kitaev-Smyk, twice named Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of the Russian Federation, Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Russian Federation Yuri Lonchakov, Honoured Military Pilot of the Russian Federation, retired Colonel-General Vladimir Deineka, retired Admiral Igor Kasatonov and participants of the international car rally and expedition “Earth Orbit of Yuri Gagarin. Let's go!” visited the event.
