21 February – International Tourist Guide Day! On this day, we congratulate all members of the Excursion and Methodical Department who on a regular basis help people coming to the Moscow Kremlin from all parts of our country and the world to see and uncover the beauty of the preserved masterpieces: from the magnificent cathedrals, towering on the Cathedral Square, to the finest jewellery pieces, carefully kept in the Armoury Chamber. The Moscow Kremlin Museums are proud of its staff members. The collective incorporates the specialist of various ages – from the youngest to the most honoured.

Natalia Cherenkova, tourist guide of the Moscow Kremlin MuseumsNatalia Cherenkova, one of the merited tourist guides, who has been working within the Kremlin walls for more than 50 years, recalls, "I came to the Armoury Chamber in 1973 as a junior research scientist, which meant holding the excursions and lectures, working with children. What is specially important for me? The communication with people. To make people – compatriots and foreigners – learn more about the history of our country. To love our unique art pieces and monuments that we are preserving. To make a person become really interested. After all, you need to burn this flame in people’s heart. And all this is a vocation of a tourist guide."

Julia Shvyrkina, tourist guide of the Moscow Kremlin MuseumsOne of the youngest guides Julia Shvyrkina thus explains her choice to connect her life with this profession, "I love history and I came to the Moscow Kremlin, because it is the heart of our country, of our state. I am upset with the fact that some Russian people know so little about the history of their motherland. It is the guide who is always in touch with the people, who is able – as far as possible - to bring some serious thoughts and broaden one’s horizons. I am deeply touched when I see how the faces change, how awe fills the eyes when the guests see wonderful treasures of the Armoury Chamber: the Monomakh’s Cap, the collection of Fabergé Easter presents, and other unique priceless masterpieces."

Every day, the Moscow Kremlin Museums offer our visitors a number of exceptional thematic excursions and sightseeing tours. We are sure that you will definitely find here the tour and the guide who would make your visit to the Kremlin bright and unforgettable.
