The collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums is limited only to three pieces of antique ceramics that came to the museum by accident. These objects are without doubt of archaeological origin.
Here are the monuments from the Cyprus island, the ceramics art of which was developing parallel to the ceramics production in Greece. Restrained geometrical motifs that leave much of the surface blank – a so-called “free” style – feature these items. The monuments made in the Black Figure technique are distinct in the simplicity of stylistic devices and generality of images, in comparison with the pieces of the metropole, for example, the School of Athens. At the same time, they possess a certain freedom, a peculiar “boldness” of artistic manner.
