Organized by:
the Moscow Kremlin Museums, Cartier Paris

01# Brooch "Orchid"The exhibition of the Cartier firm's jewellery, placed in the Moscow Kremlin Assumption Belfry, is one of the most magnificent displays representing the artworks of the French renowned trading house. We will see beautiful pieces of work which illustrate the progression of design styles and techniques in art of jewellery-making.

The early XXth century was a time of the Cartier's style development. A unique design of garland style jewellery, intended for decorating a corsage, is represented in 16 exhibited items. Gorgeous brooches with pink pearls, emeralds and cabochons in sapphires, pendants and clocks form a special group of articles, inspired by the Art deco style and remarkable for its refined simplicity and decorative expressiveness.

Represented masterpieces of 1920s - 1930s were created in Indian, Chinese, Egyptian tradition with application of authentic exotic materials and decorative elements, e.g., colourful "Tutti Frutti" artworks.

Two outstanding tiaras (one of which is made of citrines and diamonds, the other - of aquamarines and diamonds) exemplify the Cartier's design style modified by the late 1930s, when dimensions of articles, made of gold, were enlarged and composition was sophisticated.

The collection of the late 1940-s - 1940s is full of various impressive items, i.e. clocks and bracelets of unusual forms, animal-shaped brooches and earrings and many other precious accessories.
